About us

We are a well-established comprehensive childcare service based in a welcoming Community Centre, located in the heart of Bensham Manor Community, operating since 2016.

At Broad Green Croydon After School Club we provide a safe and secure and relaxed environment, offering a range of activities to reflect the interests of the children in our care.

To achieve our aims:

  • We hold club sessions Monday to Friday.

  • We regularly clean and inspect the premises and equipment used.

  • We ensure that there is a qualified first aider on the premises at all times.

  • We implement regular fire drills and ensure that all staff and children are aware and familiar with the procedure.

  • We encourage the children to be independent, to experiment, to be creative and to develop self discipline and acceptable behaviour.

• Care and activities that put the needs and safety of children first.

• A programme of activities that is interesting, educational, stimulating and fun.
• Activities that promote each child social, physical, moral and intellectual development.
• Access to a variety of facilities and equipment under safe and supervised conditions, in a setting which will encourage the children to grow.

• A staff team that is experienced, well trained and properly supported. Staff will support and encourage children to be the best that they can be, to learn and to grow whilst feeling safe and happy.

• Services that meet and abide by the conditions of the Children’s Act 2004 and all other relevant childcare legislation, wherever they apply.
• An environment where no child is bullied or suffers discrimination in any form.

Staff are experienced in childcare and have the appropriate skills and qualifications (including first aid) to ensure that your child will be both well looked after and have an enjoyable time at the club.

We provide a quality childcare service and work hard to promote the following principles:

• Each child is respected as an individual.

• Each child has the right to equal opportunities.

• Each child has the right to play safely.

Through both structured and free play, we encourage the social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and creative development of the children.

This club provides a quality care service where every child is respected as an individual. We feel strongly that the needs of the child should be the primary focus of the club.

Broad Green Croydon After School Club is registered with Ofsted (Registration No RP903099), and is based at

Queens Community Hall, Turner crescent, Croydon, Surrey, CR0 2NP.

We are a child-led facility with a focus on play and formal & informal learning. We ask the children about ideas on how to improve our club/s and the different activities that we could implement. We make sure we involve all the children in compiling the weekly activity plans.

In order to accommodate the age ranges and interests of the children attending the club, we offer a wide variety of activities including:

  • Arts, crafts and needle work
  • Reading/quiet activities
  • Imaginary play/dressing up
  • Physical games and sports
  • Dance and music
  • Board games
  • Construction
  • Outdoor/indoor fun
  • Cooking
  • Film club
  • Library
  • ICT
  • Homework support
  • Local park & adventure playground

As well as taking part in structured activities, the children also have the opportunity to just relax, chat with their friends and generally “chill” after a busy day at school.
Our staff organise a variety of themed activities for the children at special times of the year, such as Christmas, Chinese New Year, Halloween etc.

The emphasis is on play and leisure rather than education but there is an opportunity to look at homework as well.

Children have the opportunity to enhance their learning through a wide variety of activities and to promote physical development.

We provide breakfast and after school care for children, subject to appropriate staffing ratios laid down by Ofsted and availability of places.

All children wishing to join BGCASC must make an application before they can attend. This will then be checked to ensure availability of places and the confirmation will be contacted once you have been allocated a place.

• If you wish to cancel your child’s place at the club, we require four weeks written notice in letter or email parents@BGCASC.co.uk.

If you then wish to re-join the club, another application will have to be made and your child will join the waiting list,

• It is up to the parent/carer to ensure that all details are kept up to date on application forms, particularly home address and telephone number, emergency contact numbers and GP/dietary needs/medical conditions/medication details.

Any changes to these details should be given to the club Management as soon as possible to avoid any possible complications.

Admission to the club is organised by the Manager and we use a waiting list system when the need arises. The waiting list will be operated on a first come-first served basis, with the exception of siblings who will have priority for the same days as a sibling already attending. See our Admission and Fees Policy for more details.

We require a completed set of registration forms for your child before they can attend the club. This information will be treated as confidential and will be stored appropriately.
